Bank statements into rows. Checked to the penny.
For bookkeepers and accountants: Rowsmith turns statement PDFs into a spreadsheet or a QuickBooks or Xero file, and proves the rows add up. It reads UK and US bank PDFs.
Rowsmith is in beta, and every feature is free. No card, no account. Nothing is uploaded: you can check that below.

A made-up statement from a made-up bank. Its row 2 is misprinted on purpose.
It finds the wrong row.
Rowsmith checks every running balance. When a row disagrees, it flags the row and offers the fix.
Fix any cell in place, with Undo. “See it on the PDF” shows the row on its page.

Check another tool’s file.
Converted it in QuickBooks, Xero or a chatbot? Rowsmith checks the file against the statement and names every wrong row. Free.
Try it on our sample: a statement, and a CSV of it with two mistakes. Or download both: sample-statement.pdf and sample-from-another-tool.csv.

Nothing leaves your computer.
There’s no server that receives statements, and the page’s security policy stops its code from sending anything. Three ways to check:
- Go offline. Turn on airplane mode, then open a statement. It works the same.
- Watch the network. On a computer, right-click, choose Inspect, then Network. Every request is for Rowsmith’s own files.
- Read the rule. The page source says
connect-src 'none', so your browser won’t let the page send data.
- What reaches a server
- Requests for Rowsmith’s own files, which our web host sees with your IP address, as any site’s would.
- What stays in your browser
- Your settings, an offline copy of Rowsmith’s own files and, once Pro is on sale, your licence key. Statements are gone when you close the tab.
- What you save
- Exports, written to your disk by your browser.
This page loads its files from its own address only. The network panel shows them.
Answers
What if a statement doesn’t add up?
The tape shows the difference, and Rowsmith flags the row whose balance disagrees, with the fix when the balance implies one. You can correct any cell or balance by hand.
Why not just ask a chatbot?
A chatbot’s rows aren’t checked against the statement’s balances. Convert wherever you like, then check the file here for free.
Will it read my bank’s statements?
If the PDF has text, as online-banking downloads do, it reads the layout rather than needing a template for your bank. If one doesn’t read right, “Save a masked copy” saves its layout on your computer, with the names and figures replaced, for you to email to support@rowsmith.app. Rowsmith is in beta: every layout people send helps it read more banks, and we’ll tell you when yours reads right.
Is my client’s data safe?
It never leaves the computer: there’s no server that receives statements, and “Here’s how to check”, above, shows three ways to prove it. Statements are gone when you close the tab.
Will I be charged again without warning?
No. A year of Pro doesn’t renew by itself: when it ends, Rowsmith goes back to the free plan, and files you exported stay yours. Any payment can be refunded within 30 days.
Is it accounting advice?
No. It’s a tool; look over an export before you rely on it.
Do I need an account or an install?
Neither. It runs in your browser, and works offline after your first visit.
